Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder has achieved the 1 lakh domestic sales landmark in India. According to Toyota’s official numbers, the automaker had sold 1,07,975 units of the SUV by the end of October. This indicates that the HyRyder breezed past 1 lakh sales in September. The midsize SUV was launched in September 2022. It took the HyRyder just 2 years to accomplish this feat.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder joins the Glanza as the second Toyota offering rebadged from a Maruti car to reach 1 lakh sales figures. The HyRyder is the rebadged version of the Grand Vitara while the Glanza is based on the Baleno. Toyota has recorded a 50% increase in sales of the HyRyder so far this fiscal year. It accounts for 25% of all Toyota sales in the country.
The mild hybrid variants of the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder are powered by Maruti Suzuki’s 1.5L K15C petrol engine that can generate a maximum power output of 101hp and 135Nm of torque. The strong-hybrid sports a 1.5L engine with a Toyota Hybrid System. The petrol engine generates up to 91hp power with 122Nm of torque, with the electric motor producing up to 79hp power with 141Nm of torque. It is also equipped with a 177.6V lithium-ion battery. Toyota claims a mileage of 27.97 kmpl for the strong hybrid setup of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder.
