Toyota Hilux gets a discount worth Rs 6 lakh

Toyota’s lifestyle pickup truck, Toyota Hilux, is currently being offered with a discount of Rs 8 lakh. Prices for the Hilux start at Rs 30.40 lakh and go up to Rs 37.90. Toyota slashed the starting price of the pickup by Rs 3.59 lakh back in March 2023, while hiking the price of its top-spec variant by Rs 1.35 lakh. Toyota Hilux: Specs, Prices, and more

Toyota Hilux is available in three variants. Here is what its price list looks like (discount not included).

Variant Price
Standard MT Rs 30.40 lakh
Hight MT Rs 37.15 lakh
High AT Rs 37.90 lakh

In March 2023’s price readjustment, Toyota slashed the prices of the Standard MT variant by Rs 3.59 lakh while hiking the High MT variant by Rs 1.35 lakh and High AT by Rs 1.10 lakh. The Hilux was launched in India in March 2022 and has sold around 1,300 units since then. The current discount of Rs 6 lakh is applicable on the entry-level variant of the Hilux. Certain dealers report that the High MT and High AT variants have a discount offer of Rs 8 lakh. This figure may vary among dealerships.

Toyota Hilux stands at dimensions of 5,325mm x 1,900mm x 1,815mm. It has a wheelbase of 3,085mm. The front fascia of the pickup is defined by the wide hexagonal chrome grille, sweptback LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, and a muscular bumper.

Inside, the Toyota Hilux gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also gets leather upholstery, seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, an automated limited-slip differential, and more.

Under the hood, the Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces a maximum power output of 204hp and 420Nm peak torque, just like the Toyota Fortuner. It comes with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Conclusion

The Hilux serves a very small niche of buyers in India and Toyota has been trying to boost the sales of the pickup truck with discount offers and buyback schemes. Back in March, the automaker announced an assured 70% buyback scheme for the pickup truck. Currently, the Toyota Hilux rivals Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in India.
