The all-new Toyota Hilux has been finally launched in India today. Bookings for the pickup truck were already open since January this year, with the booking amount reportedly being Rs 1 lakh. The first units of the Toyota Hilux arrived at dealer showrooms and stores a couple of days ahead of its launch in March this year. The truck will be available in 3 trims in India, namely a 4×4 MT Standard, a 4×4 MT High and a 4×4 AT High.
The all-new Toyota Hilux sports a completely unique and bold design language. On its front can be seen a larger hexagonal front chrome grille, swept-back LED projector headlamps with integrated daytime running headlights, fog lights, a rugged-looking front bumper and a skid plate. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, similar to Fortuner in India. Being reported as one of the longest pickup vehicles in India, the new Toyota Hilux is 5325mm long, 1900mm wide, 1815mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 3085mm.
The Isuzu D-max V-Cross is the only rival of Toyota Hilux that it competes with, in its price range in the pickup truck segment in India. Speaking of its interiors, it shares a number of features with its sibling Toyota Fortuner in India. However, its dashboard layout and styling are slightly different. From the comfort and safety point of view, the Hilux features leather upholstery, seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, automated limited-slip differential and much more. The top-spec Hilux comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and supports Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto connectivity.
The Toyota Hilux pickup truck is powered by a 2.8L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine producing an output of 204hp and 420Nm of torque, just like the Toyota Fortuner. It comes with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The all-new Toyota Hilux price in India starts at Rs 33.99 lakhs and goes up to Rs 36.80 lakhs for its highest trim.
