Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts get a 5-star safety rating from GNCAP

The newly launched Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts have received a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP crash tests. The two SUVs were tested under the new GNCAP testing protocol which happens to be more stringent. The Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts are the first Tata cars to be tested under the new protocol and the last ones under the ‘Safer Cars For India’ campaign, as the Bharat NCAP is set to activate soon.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts: A fine showing at GNCAP

Tata Safari and Harrier are underpinned by the same platform. The Safari has a 7-seating capacity while the Harrier is limited to 5. Both SUVs come with six airbags and ESC as standard. Other safety features include a hill hold assist, three-point seatbelt reminders for all passengers, an ADAS package, and more.

In the Adult Occupant Protection Test, the Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts scored 33.04 points out of a possible 35, achieving a 5-star rating. In the Child Occupant Protection Test, the two SUVs scored 45 points out of 49, grabbing another 5-star rating. The facelift models got a full 12 points for the Child Restraint System installation.

Alejandro Furas, Global NCAP Secretary General said, “Global NCAP congratulates Tata on the five star twin model rating for the Safari and Harrier. This very strong result, the top adult and child safety score in our testing to date, confirms the manufacturer’s strong commitment to developing safer vehicles which we warmly welcome and applaud.”

Conclusion

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift models were launched in India today. The Safari range starts at Rs 16,19 lakh while the Harrier costs Rs 15.49 lakh. After receiving a 5-star rating under the new GNCAP testing protocol, the Harrier and Safari facelifts become two of the safest SUVs in the country.
