Tata Nexon EV reaches 50,000 sales landmark

Tata Nexon EV, the automaker’s flagship electric SUV, has hit the 50,000 sales milestone. The Nexon EV was launched in 2020, and it took the electric SUV less than 3 years to accomplish this feat. Tata Nexon EV: The story so far

Tata Nexon EV is available in two variants – Prime and Max. With over 50,000 units sold, it is one of the most popular EVs in the country. Prices for the Nexon EV begin at Rs 14.49 lakh and go up to Rs 19.54 lakh. Tata slashed the prices for Nexon by Rs 85,000 earlier this year. The EV is currently being sold in over 500 cities across India and has been driven over 900 million miles.

Commenting on this milestone, Mr Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The Nexon EV was introduced as India’s own electric SUV with the aim of offering a cool, stylish, practical and real-world solution for faster EV adoption in India. The Nexon EV customers have grown to 50K in just 3 years. This is a testament to how India has embraced EVs as the mobility of the current times. We would like to thank the early adopters, who believed in the promise of the Nexon EV and in-turn allowed the EV ecosystem to build and become what it is now. We hope more people experience the promise of an EV and evolve to electric.”

The Prime variant of the Tata Nexon EV gets a 30.2 kWh battery pack that delivers a driving range of 312 km. Using a fast DC charger, this battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in 60 minutes. The Max variant gets a 40.5 kWh battery pack which offers a range of 453km. This battery pack can be juiced from 0-80% in 56 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Both variants of the Tata Nexon EV are powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The Nexon EV Prime delivers a maximum power output of 129hp and 245Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Max variant puts out 143hp and 250Nm. Both variants take 9 seconds to accelerate from 0-100kmph.

Tata Motors recently added a new XZ+ LUX trim to the Nexon EV Max lineup. This trim is priced at Rs 18.79 lakh. This trim gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a voice assistant in 6 languages, 180+ voice commands, and a high-definition rearview camera.
