Tata Altroz range gets ESP as a standard feature

Tata Motors is now offering the Electronic Stability Program as a standard feature on the Altroz hatchback. Previously, this feature was not available on the entry-level variants of the hatchback. Interestingly, despite the inclusion of ESP as a standard feature, the starting price of Tata Altroz remains unchanged. The Altroz range starts at Rs 6.65 lakh.

Tata Altroz gets a safety upgrade

Tata Altroz is available in six trim levels – XE, XM, XM+, XT, XZ, and XZ+. The XM trim was added to the hatchback’s lineup last year. All of these trims are now available with ESP as the standard feature. Dual front airbags, impact sensing door unlock, rear parking sensors, brake sway control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts are other safety features that are offered as standard on the Altroz. Other than that, there are no other changes on the Altroz.

The XM, XM+, and XZ+ variants are also available with an electric sunroof. Other features on the Tata Altroz include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a voice-controlled electric sunroof, leatherette seats, cruise control, automatic headlamps and more. The CNG model has a gas leak detection feature and a micro switch to ensure the car is switched off while it is being refuelled.

Tata Altroz gets a safety upgrade

Tata Altroz is available in four powertrain options. The 1.2-litre NA petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 87hp and 115Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 108hp and 140Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 89hp and 200Nm. Lastly, the CNG engine puts out 73hp and 103Nm. All engines can be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.2L NA petrol engine can also be paired with a 6-speed DCT.

Conclusion

Prices for the Tata Altroz start at Rs 6.65 lakh and go up to Rs 8.50 lakh. The automaker is also planning to launch a sportier version of the hatchback dubbed Altroz ‘Racer’ in the coming weeks. An Altroz EV is in the works for 2025. Currently, the hatchback rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza in India.
