Hyundai i20 Sportz (O): What’s new?
The Sportz (O) variant of the Hyundai i20 brings the single-pane sunroof to the hatchback’s mid-spec trim. Previously, this feature was exclusive to the two Asta trims. The door armrests on the Sportz (O) get a faux leather finish and the car is equipped with wireless charging.
Other features on the i20 lineup include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, height-adjustable driver’s seat, puddle lamps, and more. The touchscreen infotainment system has 60 connected car features, 127 embedded VR commands, and 52 Hinglish voice commands. Safety features include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), 3-point seat belt and seatbelt reminder for all seats.
Powering the Hyundai i20 is the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine from the previous model. Hyundai has discontinued the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine on the facelift. The 1.2-litre engine produces a maximum power output of 83hp (MT), 88hp (IVT), and 115Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or an IVT gearbox.
Talking about the design, the Hyundai i20 facelift gets two arrow-shaped air inlets on either side of the front bumper. The position of the reflectors has been changed at the back and a faux skid plate has been added to the vehicle. The internal elements of the grille get a design tweak as well. The design of the headlamps has been retained from the outgoing model but the higher variants of the hatchback get fully LED units. On the facelift, the Hyundai logo has also been moved from the grille to the bonnet. The 16-inch alloys along the sides of the hatchback also get a new design.
