Skoda Octavia facelift confirmed to debut globally in February

Key Highlights

  • The new Skoda Octavia will get a new design for the LED headlamps.
  • It is rumoured to get a Level 2 ADAS package as well.
  • An India launch is not on the cards as of now.

Skoda will take the wraps off the new Octavia facelift next month, the automaker confirmed. The sedan has been long awaiting a facelift after its fourth-gen model went on sale five years ago. The Octavia was pulled from the Indian market in early 2023 and the company does not plan on reintroducing it anytime soon. However, the premium Superb sedan will make its way into India after its facelift gets launched later in the year.

Skoda Octavia facelift: A quick snapshot

Apart from confirming the global debut of the Skoda Octavia facelift, the automaker has also dropped a teaser for the sedan. The brief video showcases the front view of the sedan draped in a cover. As the headlamps light up, their new design becomes more prominent. The new LED headlamps will be integrated with diagonal LED DRLs. The grille gets a few design tweaks as well. The tail lamps are expected to mimic the design of the headlamps. Changes to the front and rear bumper are also expected on the facelift.

So far, Skoda has kept a tight lid on the interior design of the sedan. The updated Octavia is expected to get a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Accompanying this display will be another 10-inch digital instrument cluster. However, the biggest addition to the feature list will be a Level ADAS package which will massively elevate the sedan’s safety.

Current-gen Octavia

Talking about the powertrain, the new Skoda Octavia facelift will retain its current engine options while also adding a new hybrid setup to the mix. Currently, the three engine options for the Octavia include a 2.0-litre diesel engine, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.4-litre plug-in hybrid. Higher variants of the facelifted model will also get the AWD setup.

Conclusion

While the new Skoda Octavia may not launch in India, the automaker will introduce the new Super and Kodiaq facelifts later this year. The two offerings will launch later this year, which will be followed by the launch of the Octavia facelift. Like the Octavia, the Skoda Superb was also discontinued in India last year.  Before it was discontinued, the 3rd-gen Superb was priced between Rs 34.19 lakh – Rs 37.29 lakh in India. Meanwhile, the Octavia was priced between Rs 27.35 lakh – Rs 30.45 lakh.
