The facelifted version of the Renault Kiger is set to go on sale in India later this year. It has been 3 years since its launch in the country. Reports suggest that the facelifted model of the SUV may be launched in the festive season. With a few months left for the launch, Renault has ramped up the SUV’s testing phase. The Kiger facelift was spotted testing on Indian roads recently. The test mule was draped in heavy camouflage.

Renault Kiger facelift: What to expect?
The Renault Kiger facelift will receive significant design upgrades, specifically on its front fascia. The test mule suggests that the facelifted model may follow the design language of Renault’s new offerings, like the Kardian SUV. The front bumper of the Kiger facelift will sport a new look and host a bigger central air intake unit. While the split LED headlamps will remain the same, the LED DRLs will be tweaked for the new model. The grille will flaunt the new Renault logo.

Inside, the Renault Kiger facelift is expected to receive new upholstery and dashboard trims. The more premium offerings will be reserved for the top-spec models. In terms of instrumentation, the SUV will get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an equally large digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The test mule that was spotted testing did not have a sunroof. It seems unlikely that this feature will be added to the top-spec variants.
No changes are expected under the hood of the Renault Kiger facelift. The SUV will continue to be offered in 2 powertrain options – a 1.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The former generates a maximum power output of 72hp and 96Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. Meanwhile, the turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 100hp and 152Nm. It can paired with a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox.

Renault is also planning to launch a facelifted model of the Triber MPV this year. The new model will be dimensionally identical to its outgoing counterpart. It will receive cosmetic upgrades on the headlamps, tail lamps, and the front and rear bumpers. Inside, the Triber will receive new upholstery and soft-touch elements too. It will feature an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features will include automatic climate control, global smart key, remote engine start, and rear AC vents.

Final Thoughts
Prices for the current-gen Renault Kiger start at Rs 6.15 lakh and go up to Rs 11.23 lakh. Expect the facelifted model to demand a small premium over the price of the outgoing model. Upon launch, it will continue to rival Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
