MG Motor has bumped the prices for MG Hector by up to Rs 61,000 in India. A new ‘Shine’ variant for Hector has also been launched. While MG did not mention the reason behind the hike, it is believed to be a result of the recent engine upgrade. MG Hector is now compliant with BS6 Phase 2 norms.

MG Hector: New prices and shiny new variant
The price of the entry-level ‘Style’ variant has been hiked by Rs 27,000 while all 1.5L variants get a price hike of Rs 36,000. Prices for 2.0L variants have been hiked by Rs 61,000. The new ‘Shine’ variant sits above the Style variant. Here is what the updated price list for MG Hector looks like.

MG Hector is offered in two powertrain options – the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 2.0-litre diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine can generate a maximum power of 143hp with a torque of 250Nm, while the diesel engine can churn out 170hp with a torque of 350Nm. Both engines are mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the non-hybrid petrol version also gets the option of a CVT automatic.
The new Shine variant of MG Hector offers features like a reverse parking camera, electronic parking brake, LED headlamps/taillamps, and fog lamps. Inside, the Shine variant gets a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets cruise control and a single-pane sunroof. The Shine variant rests on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Prices for MG Hector have been hiked as well. The Hector Plus lineup now starts at Rs 20.51 lakh and goes up to Rs 22.97 lakh. The top-spec Smart Pro and Sharp Pro variants receive the biggest hike of Rs 76,000. Here’s what the updated price list for MG Hector Plus looks like.

Conclusion
MG introduced the facelift version of the Hector back in January 2023. This is the first hike since the launch of the facelift. All variants of MG Hector have been upgraded to meet the RDE norms. The SUV rivals the likes of Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.Â
