First showcased at Auto Expo 2023, Tata Punch CNG will feature the automaker’s dual-cylinder setup for its CNG models. The two fuel cylinders are housed underneath the boot floor. Each cylinder has a storage capacity of 30 litres. This frees up a lot of boot space, which used to be a major concern for CNG car buyers. Tata Altroz CNG, which was launched in May, features a similar setup and offers a boot space capacity of 210 litres.
Cosmetically, Tata Punch CNG is identical to its petrol counterpart, save for the iCNG branding. This branding can be found on the tailgate of the SUV. The interior layout remains unchanged as well. The top-spec trims of the Punch will receive a CNG powertrain as well. This means that it will get features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, engine start/stop button, and more.
Powering the Tata Punch CNG is the 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that is also found in the petrol variant. This engine produces a maximum power output of 77hp and 97Nm of torque in a CNG setup. In a petrol configuration, this engine puts out 86hp and 113Nm. Punch CNG will only be offered in a 5-speed manual transmission.
