Honda Elevate SUV production commences in India

Honda’s debut midsize SUV in India has finally gone into production. The first unit of Honda Elevate was rolled out from the automaker’s state-of-the-art facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. India is the first country to begin the global production of Honda Elevate. The SUV made its global debut in India last month.

Honda Elevate: September launch scheduled for the midsize SUV

With the production of Honda Elevate now underway, the SUV is expected to arrive at Honda dealerships by mid-August. Interested buyers can take the SUV for a test drive and book their model for a token amount of Rs 21,000. Honda plans on announcing prices for the Elevate in the first week of September.

Honda Elevate is available in four trims – SV, V, VX, and ZX. The top-spec ZX trim gets features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, six airbags, the Honda Sensing ADAS package, an eight-speaker sound system, wireless charging, a single-pane sunroof, and more.

Under the hood, Honda Elevate gets a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that can generate a maximum power output of 121hp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-step CVT automatic gearbox. With a manual transmission, Honda Elevate offers a mileage of 15.31kmpl. The CVT variants deliver a mileage of 16.92kmpl.

Conclusion 

Honda plans on exporting the Elevate from India to foreign markets. Prices for the SUV are expected to start at Rs 11 lakh, going up to Rs 17 lakh for the top-spec ZX variant. Upon launch, the Elevate will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Citroen C3 Aircross, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
