Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS showcased at ‘Festival of Dreams’

Porsche India showcased the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS at its ‘Festival of Dreams’ event today in Mumbai. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS was launched in India last year at a price of Rs 2.54 crore and sits at the top of the 718 lineup. While the luxury coupe was launched in May 2022, this is the first time it has been showcased in India.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS: What’s on offer?

Powering the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the same 4.0-litre boxer-six engine that’s found in the rest of the 718 lineup. But in GT4 RS, this engine produces an enhanced power output of 500hp, which is 80hp more that the GT4. The GT4 RS can go from 0-199kmph in just 3.4 seconds. The top speed has been capped at 315 kmph. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is mated to the 4.0L engine.

Talking about other specifications, the GT4 RS is lighter than the standard 718 Cayman, with a kerb weight of 1,415kg. The carbon fibre plastic used on the bonnet and front wings helps bring down the weight of the coupe. The rear windscreen is also claimed to be lighter than the standard 718 Cayman. Braking duties are handled by a 408mm 6-piston calliper up front, and a 380mm 4-piston calliper at the back.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is offered in a coupe body only. Its exterior has been aerodynamically improved with the help of a swan-necked rear wing, new air vents, and an adjustable front diffuser. The height of the car has also been reduced by 30mm which increases the downforce by 10%. In track mode, the downforce increases to 60%.

Conclusion

Porsche also showcased the Macan GTS, 718 Spyder, Panamera Turbo S, Taycan, Cayenne, and several generations of the iconic 911 at its expo event. Priced at Rs 2.54 crore, the GT4 RS competes against Mercedes-AMG GT R and McLaren 720S.
