New 5-Door Maruti Jimny 2022 Being Worked Upon: Everything You Need To Know

Talks of Suzuki developing an updated 5-door version of its popular off-roading SUV, the all-new Maruti Jimny 2022, have been going around quite for a while now. However, it has been reported that the brand is facing certain troubles on the front of sales volumes and logistics for Jimny’s India launch. While some have speculated the Maruti Jimny launch date to be around April 15th this year itself, others expect it to go on sale in India sometime in early 2023.

The upcoming Maruti Jimny 2022 5-door version is expected to come with a boxy exterior design similar to its 3-door version. Of course, the new 5-door SUV will come with a longer wheelbase, with approximately a 300mm increase in length. Its front grille and bumpers are expected to be restyled.

Speaking of what the new 5-door Maruti Jimny interiors would be like, its steering wheel and dashboard design is likely to be similar to its 3-door counterpart. Increased cabin space will be waiting for its occupants, especially in the rear row. On the comfort, safety and entertainment front, it is expected to come equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, automatic climate control, cruise control, dual front airbags, etc.

The SUV in the international market comes loaded with features like Dual Sense Brake Support (DSBS), high beam assist, lane departure alert and traffic sign recognition amongst many others. However, it is not known for sure whether the India-spec of the all-new 5-door Maruti Jimny 2022 will be sporting any of these features or not.

The India model of the new Maruti Jimny 2022 is expected to come with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering an output of about 105PS and 138Nm, along with a turbo petrol engine whose power is speculated to be over that of the former unit. The transmission options that it will likely offer include a 5-speed MT, a 4-speed AT and a 4WD Suzuki All Grip Pro system.

The Maruti Jimny 5-door price in India is expected to start around Rs 10 lakhs (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, the all-new SUV will be competing primarily against Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
