Mini Cooper S

The new Mini Cooper S retains the iconic look of the hatchback. Its front fascia is highlighted by the signature round headlights and a large octagonal grille. The tail lamps get a design upgrade and are bridged together by a plastic panel. The Mini Cooper S is available in ten colour options – Melting Silver, Midnight Black, Nanuq White, British Racing Green, Chili Red II, Indigo Sunset Blue, Blazing Blue, Icy Sunshine Blue, Ocean Wave Green, and Sunny Side Yellow.

Powering the Mini Cooper S is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This is the same engine as the outgoing model but it now produces an improved power output of 204hp and 300Nm of torque. Previously, this engine put out 178hp and 280Nm. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Mini Cooper S can go from 0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds.

Mini Countryman Electric

The new Countryman Electric is 130mm longer and 60mm taller than the outgoing version. It features an octagonal grille up front, along with angular headlamps. The tail lamp design of the EV is inspired by the unit on the Mini Cooper S. There are nine colour options on offer – Melting Silver, Midnight Black, Nanuq White, British Racing Green, Chili Red II, Indigo Sunset Blue, Blazing Blue, Smokey Green and Slate Blue.

The Countryman Electric is powered by a front-wheel single electric motor. This motor produces a maximum power output of 204hp and 250Nm of torque. The EV can go from 0-100kmph in 8.6 seconds. Its top speed has been capped at 170kmph. The 66.4kWh battery pack on the Countryman Electric can power for 462km on a full charge. Using a 130W charger, the EV can be charged from 10-80% in under 30 minutes. With a 22kW AC charger, the EV can be fully charged in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Mr Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India said, “MINI has always rewritten and reinvented itself for the modern day, time and time again without neglecting its own origins and traditions. The new MINI family, with a purist design, an immersive user experience, a responsible attitude and charismatic simplicity, takes the driving fun into a new era. MINI’s constant development and its ability to regularly set new trends have established a strong fanbase in India.”

While the Mini Cooper S has no real rivals in India, the Countryman Electric will lock horns with the BMW X1, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Volvo C40 Recharge, and Mercedes-Benz EQA.
