Volvo XC40 Recharge is now available in a single-motor variant in India. The automaker has opened the bookings for the electric SUV and set the token amount at Rs 1 lakh. Interested buyers can book their model from Volvo’s website. Volvo now offers three EVs in India – C40 Recharge, XC40 twin motor, and XC40 Recharge single motor. All three cars are assembled at the automaker’s facility in Hoskote, Bengaluru.

Volvo XC40 Recharge: All the important details
Dubbed the ‘Plus’ variant, the single-motor Volvo XC40 Recharge is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor which produces a maximum power output of 238hp and 420Nm of torque. The electric SUV’s top speed has been capped at 180 kmph and it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. The 69kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 475km. In comparison, the dual-motor XC40 Recharge can generate a maximum power output of 408hp and 660Nm of torque. It can go from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds.
The Plus variant also misses out on features like the 360-degree camera, fog lamps, Pixel LED headlights, side parking sensors, air-ventilated subwoofer, Harmon Kardon sound system, and power child safety lock. However, it gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Also present is a 12-inch digital driver’s display. Other features include an 8-speaker sound system, powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, two-zone climate control, wireless charging, and more.
Safety features on the Volvo XC40 Recharge include seven airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, park assist, and more. The electric SUV is equipped with an ADAS package which consists of features like rear collision warning, lane keep assist, cross-traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control, and more.
Volvo is also planning to launch an all-electric variant of its S90 sedan later this year. The electric S90 will stand at dimensions of 4,999mm x 1,547mm x 1,945mm and will be underpinned by the automaker’s SPA2 platform. This S90 EV will also come in single-motor and dual-motor variants. It will be powered by a 111kWh battery pack with a driving range of up to 600 km. This is the same battery pack that is found on the EX90 SUV.
