MG Motors has launched the newly updated 2024 Astor in India at a starting price of Rs 9.98 lakh. The midsize SUV is available in seven trims – Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro. The top-spec Savvy Pro variant of the MG Astor fetches Rs 17.90 lakh. The automaker has also updated the SUV with a handful of new features. Mechanically, the 2024 remains unchanged and continues to be offered in two engine options.

Talking about the feature updates, the 2024 MG Astor gets ventilated front seats, auto-dimming Inside Rear View Mirror, wireless charging, and wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The i-Smart OS for the infotainment system offers over 80 connected features. The SUV also sports a Jio-powered voice recognition system, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, an anti-theft alert, and a digital key functionality. In terms of safety, the SUV gets a Level 2 ADAS package.
Things remain the same under the hood as the 2024 MG Astor continues to be offered in two engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. The former produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 144Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or an 8-speed CVT gearbox. The turbo petrol engine churns out a maximum power output of 140hp and 220Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
MG Astor is also offered in a ‘Blackstorm’ edition which features an all-black theme for the interior. There are splashes of red highlights on the upholstery, AC vents, steering, and door trims. This special edition is only available for the mid-spec trims and comes with the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine. It gets the standard 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster.

Conclusion
With prices starting at Rs 9.98 lakh, MG Astor is now the most affordable midsize SUV in the country, undercutting the Citroen C3 Aircross by a very slim margin. It rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
