Maruti Suzuki Ertiga crosses 1 million sales landmark

Maruti Suzuki has completed over 1 million sales of the Ertiga MPV in India. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was introduced in India back in 2012. Available in petrol and CNG powertrains, the Ertiga leads the midsize MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) segment with a 37.5% market share. It is also responsible for 50% of Maruti’s CNG sales. The Ertiga received a facelift in 2022, which led to a boost in its sales.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: Leading the midsize MPV segment

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was launched in 2012 as a low-cost alternative to the massively popular Toyota Innova. Its introduction in the Indian market led to the creation of what we now call the ‘midsize MPV’ segment. Maruti says the MPV is increasingly popular among young buyers and large families.

Maruti Suzuki leading the charge in CNG sales across India

One of the biggest attributes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the choice of two powertrains. The 1.5-litre petrol engine on the MPV generates a maximum power output of 103hp and 137Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. In a CNG configuration, this engine produces a maximum power output of 92hp and 122Nm of torque. The Eritga CNG is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Petrol variants of the MPV have a mileage of 20.51 km/l while the CNG variant bumps up the fuel efficiency to 26.11 km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is equipped with features like power steering, power windows, remote locking, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminders, ABS with EBD, steering mounted controls, an audio system, a four-speaker sound system, power outlets for the first and second row, a dual-tone dashboard, and more. It also has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system inside. This SmartPlay infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Prices for the Maruti Suzuki start at Rs 8.69 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 13.03 lakh for the top-spec variant. Prices for Ertiga CNG start at Rs 12.48 lakh. In India, the MPV rivals the likes of Renault Triber, Mahindra Marazzo, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.
