Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny will retain the K15B petrol engine

According to certain reports, Maruti will retain the K15B petrol engine on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny. This is the same engine that powers the 3-door version of the Jimny. The 5-door Jimny has been spied testing several times in the last few months. Maruti will unveil the Jimny at AutoExpo 2023 next month, followed by a launch in the coming months.

Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny: What we know so far

The K15B petrol engine found on the 3-door Jimny produces a maximum power output of 102hp and 130Nm peak torque. Maruti retaining this engine on the 5-door Jimny comes as a surprise as the automaker has been replacing it with the K15C engine across its catalogue. The 5-door Jimny will be made available with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options. It will also receive Suzuki’s All Grip Pro AWD. The Jimny is also expected to come with mild-hybrid tech.

The Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny stands at dimensions of 3850mm x 1645mm x 1730mm with a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. The 3-door Jimny came with a wheelbase of 2,250 mm. Since all the test mules have been heavily camouflaged so far, there isn’t much we can say about the exterior as of now. More details will be revealed at the AutoExpo debut in January 2023.

Inside, the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been upgraded to a 9.0-inch touchscreen, similar to the one in Brezza. The model spotted testing in India had a right-hand drive as opposed to the left-hand drive version spied in Europe earlier in July.

Conclusion

The Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny is expected to be made available in at least 9 monotone and 4 dual-tone colour options. Prices will be revealed upon launch, which will follow soon after the debut. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will rival Force Gurkha and Mahindra Thar, both of which are expected to come out with 5-door models soon.
