Mahindra Scorpio-N scores 5 stars at the Global NCAP crash tests

The recently launched Mahindra Scorpio-N has scored the highest possible rating of 5 stars in the latest rounds of Global NCAP crash tests. The GNCAP testing protocol was revised earlier this year in July as a part of the ‘Safer Cars for India’ campaign. Mahindra Scorpio-N was the only outlier in the most recent round of testing as the other India-made cars, Maruti Suzuki Swift, S-Presso, and Ignis, received a poor 1-star rating.

The protection provided to their knees was rated good too. In the side impact, the protection to the head chest, pelvis, and abdomen were good.

For the Child Occupant Protection test, the child seats for 18-month and 3-year-olds were installed rearwards. The SUV was able to prevent head exposure and provided full protection during a frontal impact. Both CRSs also offered full side impact protection.

The petrol unit will deliver 170ps of power while the diesel unit is expected to deliver 155ps of power. The SUV will come with multiple driving modes and has a body-on-frame construction. It features intelligent 4Xplore terrain management technology, offering the 4 modes Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert, with the touch of a button.
