Mahindra Scorpio Classic gets a price hike of Rs 65,000

Mahindra has raised the prices of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic by Rs 65,000. This is the third price hike from Mahindra this month, following Scorpio N and XUV700. Mahindra Scorpio Classic was launched in August 2022 at a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh. The SUV is available in two variants.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic: Updated prices

Launched in August 2022, the base variant of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic was priced at Rs 11.99 lakh while the high-end S11 variant fetched Rs 15.49 lakh. After receiving a price of Rs 65,000, the variants are priced at Rs 12.64 lakh and Rs 16.14 lakh respectively. The current waiting period for Mahindra Scorpio Classic is around 5-6 months.

Powering the Scorpio Classic is an updated all-aluminium lightweight GEN-2 mHawk engine that produces a maximum power of 130hp and 300Nm torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The GEN-2 mHawk engine is 55 kilos lighter and 14% more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

Earlier this month, the Mahindra Scorpio N also got a price hike of up to Rs 1 lakh across all variants. Initially launched in June 2023 at an introductory price of Rs 11.99 lakh, the Scorpio N lineup now starts at Rs 12.74 lakh. The top-spec Z8 AT trim which was previously priced at Rs 23.90 lakh now costs Rs 24.05 lakh. The Scorpio N is currently Mahindra’s most in-demand SUV, with a waiting period of 2 years for some variants.

Powering the Scorpio N is a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine option and a 2.2L diesel engine unit that also supports the Mahindra Thar and XUV700. The petrol unit delivers 170PS of power while the diesel unit churns out 155PS. The SUV comes with multiple driving modes and has a body-on-frame construction. It features intelligent 4Xplore terrain management technology, offering the 4 modes Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert, with the touch of a button.

Conclusion

Mahindra is not the only automaker to hike prices this year. Tata Motors recently announced that it will be hiking prices for all its passenger vehicles from February 1. Mahindra recently opened booking for its electric SUV, XUV400, which was launched earlier this month at Rs 15.99 lakh.
