Kia Syros scores 5 stars in Bharat NCAP crash tests

Kia Syros has secured a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. The compact SUV was crash-tested by the safety assessment body in February 2025. The 5-star rating applies to all 6 trims of the Syros: HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and HTX+(O). The Syros SUV has garnered over 20,000 bookings since its introduction in January 2025.

Kia Syros: Bharat NCAP crash test results explained

Kia Syros scored 30.21 points out of a total of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection test. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test (14.21/16), the SUV offered good protection to the driver’s and passenger’s heads and necks. However, it offered only adequate protection to the driver’s chest and knees. In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test (16/16) and Side Pole Impact Test, the Syros offered good protection to the head and chest.

In the Child Occupant Protection Test, the Kia Syros scored 44.92 points out of a possible 49. This includes a Dynamic score of 23.42 points (max. 24), a CRS installation score of 12 points (max. 12), and a Vehicle assessment score of 9 points (max. 13).

Kia Syros offers safety features like 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Management, Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold, a 360-degree camera, and more. The Level 2 ADAS package offered with the SUV consists of features like Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, 360 Degree Camera with Blind View Monitor and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.

Kia Syros is available in 2 powertrain options. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 120hp and 172Nm of torque. It offers a mileage of 18.2kmpl with the 6-speed manual transmission and 17.68kmpl with the 7-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out a maximum power output of 115hp and 250Nm of torque. It offers a mileage of 20.75kmpl with the 6-speed manual transmission and 17.65kmpl with the 6-speed torque converter gearbox. This engine

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Kia Syros start at Rs 9 lakh and go up to Rs 17.80 lakh. Kia plans to introduce an all-electric version of the SUV in India next year. Meanwhile, the ICE version of the Syros rivals the Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Tata Nexon.
