Jeep Meridian and Jeep Grand Cherokee Lead The Brand’s 2022 Product Offensive In India

The Jeep brand heads to grow in full swing at the Indian markets this year. It is introducing two more brand-new made-in-India premium SUV models namely the Jeep Meridian and the Jeep Grand Cherokee this year. The Jeep Meridian is the first 3-row Jeep SUV in India offering sophisticated and spacious interiors, connectivity features and much more. Speaking of the Jeep Grand Cherokee which is the fifth in its generation, it’s going to be the most technologically advanced and luxurious Grand Cherokee yet. Both the premium SUV models will be built at the Ranjangaon joint venture manufacturing facility. What’s more? The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is also set to return to the Indian markets this year.

The Jeep brand confirmed the return of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk in addition to introducing two all-new 4×4 vehicles this year, both of which are going to be made in India. This will be another step towards the strengthening of their brand in the Indian market. Further, as claimed, by the end of 2022, the Jeep brand will offer a portfolio of four nameplates, all of which will be locally produced or assembled.

The Jeep Meridian

Jeep Meridian, the brand’s first mid-size SUV in India in the 3-row segment, is claimed to be specifically designed for the Indian market. A seven-passenger vehicle packed with core Jeep DNA in it, the Jeep Meridian offers a unique alternative to its Indian customers. It will also be the first in its segment to have independent front and rear suspension and best-in-class acceleration due to superior engineering that optimizes its power-to-weight ratio.

The Jeep Meridian, which is set to be manufactured in India, will have over 80% of its components as local. The production of the Meridian will commence in May at the Ranjangaon joint venture manufacturing facility in Pune.

The nameplate Meridian is a very clever and smart choice of the Jeep brand, taken through its marketing campaign-Kashmir to Kanyakumari. It is explained as the result of a legendary journey down the length of India, crossing each state that falls on the Meridian77o east.

The Jeep Meridian will be offered in three powertrains and two trims with a diesel engine only. Further details on the features and specifications of the Meridian will be revealed closer to its local launch, as stated in the press release.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee

The all-new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue further the made-in-India product line of the Jeep brand in India. The brand’s luxury flagship will launch with an all-new architecture, exterior and interior design, and state-of-the-art technology.

For the Indian market, the vehicle will come equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol powertrain, paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The driver will have access to four driving modes – Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand, and Snow. What welcomes its occupants from the inside is a plush and spacious leather interior with exclusive features such as a co-passenger interactive screen and a Heads Up Display (HUD). Some more of its features that you can flaunt include a power lift-gate, ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof.

India is the only market in the world outside North America where the all-new Grand Cherokee will be locally assembled.

The modern, spacious interior of the Compass features a number of upgrades as compared to its previous generations including double storage and a new 10.1-inch Uconnect 5-center stack display amongst others.
