Hyundai Creta facelift to be unveiled globally on January 16

Hyundai Creta is one of the most popular midsize SUVs in India. The current-gen Creta was introduced back in 2020. Since then, the midsize SUV segment has seen a lot of new players, the most notable being Maruti Suzuki and Toyota with the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser HyRyder as their prime offerings. Needless to say, an update to the Creta has been in order for a long time. The wait is now almost over, as Hyundai plans to take the wraps off the new Creta facelift next month. The midsize SUV will go on sale soon after its global debut on January 16.

Hyundai Creta facelift: What to expect?

The new Creta facelift has been spotted testing on multiple occasions this year. The automaker released a facelift for the SUV in Indonesia back in 2021 but this version never made it to India. The upcoming facelift will surely go on sale in India next year. It is expected to get some significant cosmetic upgrades. The design language found on Hyundai’s more recent SUVs like Exter and Santa Fe will also be used on the Creta facelift.

This means that it will get H-shaped LED DRLs and split LED headlamps. The front bumper and grille will also sport a new look. In profile, the Hyundai Creta will retain its silhouette but will feature a new design for the alloy wheels. It is rumoured that it will get the 18-inch alloys from Alcazar. At the back, the SUV will get H-shaped tail lamps connected by a light bar.

Inside, the Hyundai Creta facelift will retain the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The biggest feature upgrade on the Creta is an ADAS package along with a 360-degree camera. It remains to be seen whether Hyundai will change the dashboard layout and upholstery theme on its bestselling SUV.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Creta facelift will add the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine from the Verna to its powertrain options. This engine can produce a maximum power output of 160hp and can be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT. The existing 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine units put out 115hp and 116hp respectively.

Conclusion

So far, Hyundai has not revealed anything about the pricing for the Creta facelift. Prices for the SUV currently start at Rs 10.87 lakh. Expect the facelifted model to demand a premium. Upon launch, the Hyundai Creta facelift will continue to rival Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
