Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that it will be launching its debut EV in India in March 2025. The Maruti Suzuki eVX was showcased at Auto Expo earlier this year and has been spotted testing on several occasions since then. The electric SUV is expected to get a spring release in 2025. Maruti could unveil the production-spec model of the eVX as early as October 2024. The eVX will be manufactured in India and exported to foreign markets as well.

Maruti Suzuki eVX: Everything we know so far

With Tata, Hyundai, and Mahindra stepping up their EV game, it was only a matter of time before Maruti Suzuki came out with their all-electric offering. First showcased at Auto Expo 2023, the Maruti Suzuki eVX holds a lot of promise.

From the spy shots of eVX’s test modules spotted in Europe, it looks very likely that the final product will look very similar to the concept model showcased at Auto Expo. All the test modules so far have been completely draped in camouflage so it is hard to make out the finer details. Since the EV has not gone into production yet, the automaker can make some changes to the design.

Like its concept model, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will ditch the traditional door handles for C-pillar-mounted units. The front fascia of the electric SUV is defined by a flat nose, edgy LED headlamps, and a shut-off grille. In profile, the SUV’s sloping roofline bears a resemblance to a traditional coupe.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will get a dual screen for the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. The two-spoke steering will be integrated with physical buttons for media control. The rotary dial will be housed in the floating centre console. The SUV will also get a 360-degree camera and an ADAS package.

Maruti has built a new platform for the eVX. The automaker will use this platform for future EV projects as well. While not much is known about the electric motor powering the SUV, Maruti Suzuki says that the eVX will be equipped with a 60kWh battery pack that will offer a 550km driving range. The entry-level variants of the car may get a smaller battery pack.

Conclusion

The Maruti Suzuki eVX will also spawn a Toyota counterpart. The two automakers have a global alliance that has already birthed the Grand Vitara-Urban Cruiser HyRyder and Invicto-Innova HyCross. The two EVs will be jointly produced at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s Hansalpur plant. Upon launch, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will rival the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, Hyundai Creta EV, and Citroen’s midsize electric SUV.
