Hyundai Creta garnered 2 lakh sales in 2025, most successful year so far

Creta commands the biggest market share in the midsize SUV segment right now.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has announced that it sold over 2 lakh units of the Creta in 2025. This makes 2025 the most successful calendar year for the Hyundai Creta so far, with an average of 550 units sold every day. The SUV completed 10 years in India back in July. To celebrate the occasion, Hyundai added a new King variant to its lineup.

Hyundai Creta: Still the midsize SUV king

The Hyundai Creta shaped the midsize SUV segment in India, back when it was launched in July 2025. Since then, it has enjoyed steady and continuous success in the market. In 2016, the SUV’s first full calendar year in India, it amassed 92,926 sales. This number grew to 189,919 units in 2024. This year, the Creta has surpassed 200,000 calendar year sales for the first time. It has recorded a remarkable CAGR of over 9% between 2016 and 2025. As things stand, the Creta commands a 34% market share in the midsize SUV segment.

Hyundai Creta’s versatile powertrain is one of the primary drivers behind its success. The SUV is available in 3 engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines generate a maximum power output of 115hp. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp. All three engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DCT gearbox.

When it comes to premium features, the SUV leaves no stone unturned. It rocks a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch display for the digital instrument cluster, a dual-zone climate control system, an air purifier, a Bose sound system, a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, an electronic parking brake, USB Type-C ports for the rear passengers, and more. There’s also a Level 2 ADAS package on board.

In addition, the diesel powertrain contributes a strong 44% share to CRETA sales. Final Thoughts

Prices for the Creta range start at Rs 10.73 lakh and go up to Rs 20.20 lakh. It rivals the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, Citroen Aircross, and Skoda Kushaq in India. Back in January, Hyundai launched the Creta EV in India. It is currently priced at Rs 18.02 lakh.
