Hyundai India has been eyeing the compact SUV market in India with plans of launching the new Hyundai Ai3 next year. Hyundai Ai3: An AutoExpo reveal on the cards?

From the outside, the Hyundai Ai3 undoubtedly looks like an SUV, sporting a sportier look than the Casper. Up front, the Ai3 gets a split LED headlamp with LED DRLs. This setup looks similar to Hyundai Venue. Along the sides, the door handle finds its way in the conventional position, unlike Casper. At the back, the Ai3 ditches the round tail lamps of the Casper and gets a more angular design.

The Hyundai Ai3 will share its platform with the Grand i10 Nios. The SUV will measure 3.7 metres in length, which is slightly more than the Casper. The wheelbase will also be 50mm longer than Hyundai Casper. In comparison, the Casper stands at dimensions of 3595mm x 1595mm x 1575mm and has a wheelbase of 2400mm.

Under the hood, the Ai3 will share its engine with Hyundai Venue and Grand i10. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine can produce a maximum power output of 81hp and 114Nm peak torque. There will be manual and automatic transmissions on offer. Hyundai may also introduce a CNG variant of the Ai3 down the line.

Conclusion

According to certain reports, the Hyundai Ai3 may be revealed at AutoExpo in January 2023. Since Ai3 is an internal codename for the micro SUV, expect it to make its debut under a different name. There will not be an option for a diesel engine upon launch. The Hyundai Ai3 will rival the likes of Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross.
