Toyota’s Fronx-based compact SUV is all set to launch on April 3. Dubbed ‘Taisor’, the SUV will share its powertrain with the Fronx. Earlier today, Toyota dropped the first teaser for the Taisor, giving a glimpse of its front fascia, silhouette, and the LED light bar at the back. Prices for the Toyota Taisor will be revealed upon launch and the delivery rollout will commence later this month.

Toyota Taisor: New compact SUV on the block
The Taisor is the Toyota counterpart of the Fronx. The teaser video for Toyota Taisor reveals similar body panels on the compact SUV. However, the texture of its grille is different from its Maruti cousin. The design for the front and rear bumpers, headlamp clusters, and DRLs have been tweaked as well. Along the sides, the Taisor will get new alloy wheels.
Inside the two SUVs will share a similar dashboard layout. Toyota Taisor will have a different colour theme for the dashboard and upholstery. It will rock the same 9.0-inch infotainment system seen on the Fronx along with features like a Head-Up Display, wireless charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and a 360-degree camera. More features and instrumentation details will be revealed upon launch.
The Fronx is available in two powertrain options – a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine. Out of these two engines, the 1.2-litre K Series is increasingly likely to feature on the Toyota Taisor. This engine produces a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm of torque. It is possible that Toyota may offer the Boosterjet engine on some variants of the Taisor. This engine can produce a maximum power output of 100hp and 140Nm of peak torque. Both engines come with manual and automatic transmission options.

Conclusion
Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx currently start at Rs 7.51 lakh and go up to Rs 13.04 lakh. Expect the Toyota Taisor to cost a small premium over its Maruti cousin. Upon launch, the Taisor will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
