BMW X5 facelift launched in India at Rs 93.90 lakh

BMW X5 facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 93.90 lakh. The top-spec xDrive 30d M Sport trim fetches Rs 1.07 crore. There are two mild-hybrid powertrains on offer for all variants of the SUV. The X5 was unveiled in India earlier this year.

Here is what the price list (ex-showroom) for the new BMW X5 facelift looks like.

There are no major changes on the design front. Up front, the BMW X5 facelift gets an illuminated grille, new kidney grille borders, and an updated lower fascia. The headlights are now narrower by 35mm. The 21-inch alloy wheels get a design tweak as well. At the back, the tail lamps get a minor design change. There are 6 colour options on offer – Brooklyn Grey, Carbon Black, Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, Tanzanite Blue and Black Sapphire.

Inside, the BMW X5 facelift looks inspired by the X7. The dashboard gets a slightly different layout along with a new curved display. This curved digital display is made out of a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system now runs the latest BMW iDrive 8.0 OS. Other features include the BMW Live Cockpit Plus System, a head-up display with AR, a panoramic glass sunroof illuminated by LEDs, and a B&W sound system.

The BMW X5 facelift gets some mechanical updates as well. The 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit now produces a maximum power output of 380hp and 520Nm peak torque, improving by 47hp and 70Nm. This engine powers the X5 xDrive40i. Powering the xDrive 30d variant is the 3.0-litre diesel unit that produces 298hp and 670Nm. Both engines are paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The electric motor puts out 12hp and 199Nm by itself. There is only one transmission option on offer – an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Conclusion

The BMW X5 facelift was also showcased at Amelia Concours d’Elegance in Florida, USA back in March. In India, the SUV rivals Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Lexus RX, and Land Rover Discovery.
