Ola Electric seems to be in a weird spot when it comes to its affordable electric scooter, Ola S1 Air. The EV maker has scrapped the two additional variants for the scooter and made it available in a single 3kWh battery variant. Ola S1 Air was introduced last year at an introductory price of Rs 79,999 but its deliveries are yet to begin.

Ola S1 Air: Expected to go on sale next month
After introducing the S1 Air to the Indian market last year, Ola Electric two new variants to its lineup in February 2023. Initially, the electric scooter was made available in a single 2.5kWh battery variant. With the addition of 2kWh, 3kWh, and 4kWh battery variants earlier this year, Ola announced that it won’t retail the scooter with the original 2.5kWh battery pack. Users who had booked the scooter before the announcement got an upgrade to the 3kWh variant.
Now, a few months after adding three new variants to the S1 Air lineup, Ola has announced that the scooter will be made available with a 3kWh battery pack only. A lack of demand for the other two variants is thought to be the reason behind this decision. The solitary Ola S1 Air variant is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh. The scooter is expected to go on sale next month.
Ola S1 Air retains the signature design of the S1 lineup. There are very minor cosmetic changes on the scooter. The grab handle on the seat has been replaced by a single-piece tubular unit. The S1 Air also features a flat floorboard instead of the curved one found on the S1 and S1 Pro. The storage space has also been reduced to 34 litres from 36 litres. The 3kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 125km.
When it comes to suspension, the S1 Air gets a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by standard drum brakes on both wheels. The S1 Air also weighs 99kg, which is considerably lighter than the 125kg S1 Pro.
Ola S1 Air will feature the new MoveOS 3. It is available in five colour options – Coral Glam, Neo Mint, Porcelain White, Jet Black, and Liquid Silver. Ola S1 Air rivals Simple One, Hero Vida V1, Ather 450X, and TVS iQube.
