The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Jimny has finally been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 12.74 lakh. Prices for the Jimny go up to Rs 15.05 lakh for the Alpha trim. The lifestyle SUV was unveiled at Auto Expo earlier this year. Maruti Suzuki got 15,000 bookings for the Jimny within the first week of its debut. The SUV doubled the bookings in the months leading up to its launch.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Everything you need to know
The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny sports the same design as its 3-door counterpart. The only changes are the addition of the two rear doors and quarter windows. The lifestyle SUV retains its ‘boxy’ look. It gets circular headlights and a vertical slat grille up front. Along the sides, the Jimny carries forward the flared wheel arches from its predecessor. At the rear, the SUV gets the signature side opening door with a spare wheel mounted on it. The 5-door Jimny stands at dimensions of 3850mm x 1645mm x 1730mm with a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. The 3-door Jimny had a wheelbase of 2,250 mm.
Inside, the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny doesn’t stray too far from its predecessor. The SUV gets all-black interiors and a 9.0-inch touchscreen Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system. The infotainment gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Support. The Jimny is also equipped with Arkamys surround sound system. The second row gets bench seating, making the Jimny a 5-seater. In terms of safety, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door gets 6 airbags, Brake Limited Slip Differential, ESP with hill hold assist, rearview camera, hill descent control, and ABS with EBD.
Powering the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is the K15B petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 102hp and 130Nm peak torque. This engine can be paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. It also receives Suzuki’s All Grip Pro AWD with low-range transfer gear (4L mode). Maruti Suzuki Jimny offers a mileage of 16.94kmpl on the manual variants and 16.39kmpl on the automatic variants.

The Jimny is available in a total of 7 colour options – 5 single-tone and 2 dual-tone schemes. Maruti will aim to produce 1 lakh units of the SUV every year. 84,000 of these units will be set aside for the Indian market and the rest will be shipped overseas.
