Skoda Octavia RS: Everything you need to know

The Octavia RS broke cover globally last year. The facelifted model, now introduced in India, gets a new design for its radiator grille. The ‘RS’ badging can also be found on this grille. It is flanked on either side by 2nd-gen LED Matrix headlamps. These headlamps are integrated with LED DRLs. The front and rear bumpers have been restyled. There’s a black finish on the grille frame, side-window trim, wing mirror covers, roof rails, rear-bumper diffuser, and exhaust tailpipes. A new ‘Mamba Green’ paint shade has been made available exclusively for the RS model. Other colour schemes include Magic Black, Candy White, Race Blue, and Velvet Red.

Inside, the new Octavia RS flaunts a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. Skoda’s in-house ChatGPT-powered digital assistant, Laura, is integrated into the infotainment system. Other features include an 11-speaker Canton sound system, three-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats with heating and massage functions, and a ‘Phone Box’ with 15W wireless and 45W wired charging and integrated cooling.

The Skoda Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that generates a maximum power output of 265hp and 370Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission that channels the power to all four wheels. The sedan can go from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds with the top speed capped at 250km/h.

The international model of the Octavia sedan is available with 2 more engine options. The 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 114hp. This engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Lastly, the 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 113hp, but it can also be had in a 147hp version with a DSG automatic gearbox.

The automaker may introduce more units in the coming months, depending on the demand. The closest rivals to the Octavia in India are the Audi A4, Toyota Camry, and BMW 2 Series.
