MG Comet Blackstorm Edition: What to expect?

Like other Blackstorm Editions in MG Motor’s catalogue, the Comet will feature an all-black exterior with red highlights. The teaser reveals red highlights on the front bumper and alloy wheels. The MG branding is also finished in red. The EV will flaunt special ‘Blackstorm’ badging.

Inside, the MG Comet Blackstorm Edition’s dashboard and upholstery will receive the all-black treatment as well. This will be supplemented by red stitching on the seat covers and red highlights on the speakers and AC vents. The ‘Blackstorm’ branding will embroidered in red on the headrests.

Regular MG Comet

Things will remain the same under the hood. The single electric motor powering the MG Comet EV produces a maximum power output of 42hp and 110Nm of torque. The 17.3kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 230km. It is sourced from Tata AutoComp and is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. There are 2 home chargers available with the EV. The 3.3kW adapter can fully charge it in 7 hours. The 7.4kW charger can accomplish the same feat in 3.5 hours.

Regular MG Comet EV

MG Comet is packed with high-end features. It flaunts dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls, and a total of 55 connected features. These features can be accessed from the dedicated app designed for the EV. The Excite and Exclusive variants also get features like ESC, electronic parking brake, hill-hold control, and more.

Conclusion

MG Comet is available in 3 variants – Executive, Excite, and Exclusive. MG Motor will likely introduce the Blackstorm Edition for the top 2 variants of the EV. Prices for the regular lineup of the Comet start at Rs 7 lakh and go up to Rs 9.84 lakh. Expect the special edition models to demand a small premium. While the urban commuter has no real rivals in India, it competes against Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, and Tata Tigor EV in the electric car market.
