Being an urban commuter, the MG Comet EV is very compact, standing at dimensions of 2,974mm x 1,505mm x 1,631mm with a wheelbase of 2,010mm. This makes it smaller than Tata Nano. Underpinning the Comet EV is the SAIC’s GSEV platform, which is similar to its Wuling cousin, Air EV. The Comet EV continues MG Motor’s tradition of naming its cars after WW2-era British fighter jets.
A Feature-laden interior is one of the reasons why the MG Comet EV is expensive despite being a compact car. It gets dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. The steering sports a two-spoke design with integrated controls. The centre control is detached from the dashboard, which gives a unique look to the interior. This centre control houses the gear selector, power window switches, and an electronic parking brake. Comet’s seating capacity is limited to 4 people, but there is ample legroom for the passengers. A total of 55 connectivity features are available for the Comet and can be accessed through the dedicated app.
Talking about its mechanical aspect, the MG Comet EV is equipped with a 17.3kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 230km. This battery pack has been sourced from Tata AutoComp and is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. Using the 3.3kW charger that comes with the car, the EV can be fully charged in seven hours. The EV derives power from a single electric motor that can produce a maximum power output of 42hp and 110Nm of torque.
MG Motor has also introduced a new entry-level ‘Executive’ trim for the ZS EV. The ZS EV range now starts at Rs 18.98 lakh. The automaker has also revised the pricing for the rest of the variants. Here is the full price list.
