Kia PV5 electric van makes global debut

Kia has taken the wraps off its first electric van. Kia PV5 was unveiled at the 2025 Kia EV Day. The Car Derived Van (CDV) is the first offering under the automaker’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) global strategy. The ‘E-GMP.S’ platform underpinning the PV5 will also spawn more crossover vehicles in the coming years.

Kia PV5: Everything you need to know

Kia PV5 is available in 3 body styles – Passenger, Cargo, and Chassis Cab. It is underpinned by the E-GMP.S skateboard platform. The front fascia of all 3 body styles is the same. It features sleek LED strips just below the windshield. These strips act as turn indicators for the van. The LED headlamps are placed further down. The large window area is framed by black graphic glass. The pillars, bonnet, and upper fenders are blacked out. At the back, the Passenger body style gets a lift-up tailgate while the Cargo and Chassis Cab have side-opening dual doors. All three variants stand at dimensions of 4,695mm x 1,895mm x 1,923mm (with antenna) / 1,899mm (without antenna).

Inside, the Kia PV5 rocks a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The Passenger variant has a three-row seat configuration with fold-and-dive seating options. In a 2-3-0 setup, the third row can be folded to increase the luggage space. Meanwhile, in a 1-2-3 layout, the passenger seat next to the driver can be folded to accommodate more luggage.

The Cargo variant of the Kia PV5 has 3 configurations – Standard, Long, and High-roof. The High-roof configuration has a Walk-Through version which makes it easier to load and unload the cargo. The Standard and Long specifications have a two-seat layout with the option of a third seat as well. The Chassis Cab variant is supplied as an incomplete vehicle, with a shared cabin which utilizes the front section of the PV5 Cargo.

Kia PV5 will be made available with 3 battery pack options – 43.3kWh, 51.5kWh, and 71.2kWh. The 71.2kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 400km. The electric van can be charged from 10-80% in 30 minutes. The front-mounted electric motor produces a maximum power output of 163hp and 250Nm of torque.

Conclusion

The EV2 Concept and EV4 were also unveiled at Kia EV Day 2025. It remains to be seen whether Kia will bring the PV5 to India. In global markets, the electric van will primarily rival the Volkswagen ID Buzz.
