Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV spied in Poland

Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV, which was unveiled earlier this year as a concept car at Auto Expo, has been spied on for the first time. The electric SUV was snapped in Poland and was covered in black camouflage. The eVX will be Maruti’s first all-electric SUV.

Maruti Suzuki eVX: The story so far

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the eVX in 2025. It is uncertain whether the test unit in the spy shots is a production-spec model. The EV is being designed in partnership with Toyota, which has a global alliance with Suzuki. The eVX being spotted in Poland makes sense as Toyota has a manufacturing plant there.

The test unit’s design seems consistent with the concept model that was showcased at Auto Expo earlier in January. The rear end of the SUV looks strikingly similar to the concept model. In other areas, Maruti has taken a more pragmatic approach. The eVX gets a flat nose and edgy headlamps up front.

Since it is an EV, the Maruti Suzuki eVX gets a closed-off grille. The rear door handles have been positioned on the C-pillar of the SUV. Thick muscular lines run across the body of the Maruti Suzuki eVX, joining the tailgate. The sloping roofline gives the electric SUV a coupe-like look.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki eVX gets a twin-screen setup for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. The floating centre console houses the rotary dial. The steering gets a two-spoke design. The electric SUV also gets a 360-degree camera and will come with an ADAS package.

Maruti Suzuki eVX will be underpinned by a new platform designed especially for EVs. This platform will also underpin other Suzuki and Toyota EVs in future. While little is known about the electric motor on the eVX, Maruti confirmed a 60kWh battery pack on the concept that offers a driving range of 550km. The production-spec model could offer a similar driving range. Entry-level variants of the Maruti Suzuki eVX could sport a smaller battery pack.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, Maruti Suzuki eVX will launch in 2025. It will also have a Toyota cousin sharing its platform and powertrain. The automakers will share more details about the EVs as we get closer to launch.
