Volkswagen Tayron, the seven-seater version of the new-generation Tiguan, has been spotted testing in China again. This time, the interior of the SUV has been leaked in great detail. The Tayron replaces the Tiguan ‘AllSpace’ in the automaker’s global portfolio. It will first be launched in China as the Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro. In India, the Tayron will be released in 2025.

Volkswagen Tayron: What do the spy shots suggest?
Volkswagen Tayron is underpinned by the MQB EVO platform which is also found on the new Skoda Kodiaq SUV. Being a bigger version of the Tiguan, it takes a lot of design inspiration from the midsize SUV. The Tayron features a rounded look and a bold-looking bumper. Chrome highlights can be found on the alloy wheels of the SUV. It stands at dimensions of 4,735mm x 1,859mm x 1,682mm, making it 197mm longer, 17mm wider, and 43mm higher than the Tiguan. It also has a 111mm longer wheelbase than the midsize SUV.
The interior look of the Volkswagen Tayron is also similar to the new-generation Tiguan. It features a three-screen setup consisting of an infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and another display on the passenger’s side. The infotainment system can be controlled by a backlit slider placed at the bottom of the unit. It will run the latest MIB4 OS from Volkswagen.
The cabin of the Tayron has a very clean and minimal look. The centre console houses a wireless charging pad, drive selector, audio controls, cupholders, and a storage compartment. The steering wheel is mounted with physical control buttons for the essential functions of the SUV.
The China-spec Volkswagen Tayron will be powered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The automaker may also add a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine for India. All engine options will be combined with a 48V mild-hybrid setup. The SUV will be available in RWD and AWD configurations. The RWD variants will be available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 19.7kWh battery pack. In electric-only mode, this battery pack offers a driving range of up to 100km.

Conclusion
As mentioned earlier, the Volkswagen Tayron will launch in India in 2025. It will be imported as a CKD unit. More details about the powertrain and features will be made available as we get closer to launch. It wouldn’t surprise us if the India-spec version of the SUV is not made available with a mild hybrid setup. Upon launch, the Volkswagen Tayron will rival the likes of Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
