Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder gets an Aero Edition

Toyora Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched a new ‘Aero’ Edition styling kit for the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. This styling package is available as a dealer-level fitment for a premium of Rs 31,999. It is available for all variants of the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder. It does not add anything to the features or equipment list. Toyota has confirmed that the Aero kit will be available for a limited period.

Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder: What’s new on the Aero Edition?

The Aero Edition adds a front spoiler, a rear spoiler, and side skirts to all variants of the HyRyder. It comes in 4 colour options – White, Silver, Black, and Red. It does not add any other cosmetic or feature upgrades to the SUV.

The HyRyder remains the same under the hood as it continues to be powered by the K15C petrol engine. This engine can generate a maximum power output of 101hp and 135Nm of torque. The strong-hybrid setup sports a 1.5L engine with the Toyota Hybrid System. The petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 91hp and 122Nm of torque. The electric motor produces up to 79hp and 141Nm. The hybrid SUV is equipped with a 177.6V lithium-ion battery. Toyota claims a mileage of 27.97 kmpl for the strong hybrid setup.

Inside, the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder rocks a dual–tone dashboard with a premium leather finish. It is equipped with a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, connected car tech, wireless charging, and more. On the safety front, the midsize SUV gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill descent control, and vehicle stability control.

Earlier this month, Toyota launched the Leader Edition for the Fortuner SUV. It gets a new design for the lattice grille and a black finish for the chrome trim around it. On top of that, its spoilers are sportier and there’s a signature emblem on the hood. Inside, the seating gets a new dual-tone, black and maroon colour theme. The new feature additions include auto-folding outside rear view mirrors (OVRMs), a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and illuminated scuff plates.

No mechanical changes have been made to the Leader edition of the Fortuner. It continues to be powered by the 2.8-litre diesel engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 204hp and 500Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or torque converter gearbox. The SUV can go from 0-100km/h in under 10 seconds.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the standard HyRyder range start at Rs 10.95 lakh and go up to Rs 19.76 lakh. So far, Toyota has sold over 1.68 lakh units of the SUV. It rivals the Maruti Suzuki Grand VitaraHyundai CretaKia SeltosVolkswagen TaigunHonda ElevateCitroen C3 Aircross, and Skoda Kushaq.
