Tata Curvv: What to expect?

The new Tata Curvv stands at dimensions of 4,308mm x 1,810mm x 1,630mm. It has a wheelbase that spans 2,560mm and a boot space capacity of 422 litres. The highlight of the SUV is its coupe-like sloping roofline. The model showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo looks identical to the one displayed at Auto Expo last year.

Tata Curvv takes design inspiration from the more recent Tata SUVs. Its front fascia is marked by a sleek LED light bar running across the grille. The new grille gets piano black highlights. The headlamp and fog housings on the bumper have an edgy design, similar to the Harrier and Safari facelifts. The bumper also gets a faux skid plate and an air intake unit. An air vent has been positioned right above the number plate as well. At the back, the tail lamps are connected by an LED light bar that spans across the tailgate.

Not much is known about the instrumentation inside the Curvv, but it gets a clean, premium design for the dashboard. Tata says that the SUV’s interior ‘integrates state-of-the-art onboard technologies and Human Machine Interface’. The rear spoiler and the roofline are connected by a large panoramic glass roof. More details about the SUV’s features and instruments will be revealed as we get closer to launch.

Under the hood, Tata Curvv will be powered by the 1.5-litre CRAIL diesel engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 113hp and 260Nm of torque. Tata will also add petrol and CNG options for the SUV. The 125hp, 225Nm producing 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine is expected to make it under the hood of the Curvv as well. Both engines will get automatic and manual transmission options. Tata Motors may also introduce an AMT gearbox for the CNG model.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, Tata Curvv will launch in India in the coming months. Prices for the SUV are expected to start from Rs 11 lakh. The all-electric variant of the SUV will demand a significant premium over its ICE siblings. Upon launch, the Tata Curvv will be a direct rival to the upcoming Citroen C3X.
