The next-generation model of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has received a price hike from the automaker. Selected variants of the luxury sedan are now dearer by Rs 1 lakh. Prices for the E-Class sedan now start at Rs 79.50 lakh for the entry-level E 200 variant and go up to Rs 92.50 lakh for the top-spec E 450 4Matic trim. The mid-spec E 220d variant is priced at Rs 82.50 lakh.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class: New prices, same features
Despite the price hike, no changes have been made to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan. The luxury sedan is available in 3 powertrain options. The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine powering the E 200 variant produces a maximum power output of 201hp and 320Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre diesel engine inside the E 220d variant generates a maximum power output of 194hp and 440Nm of torque. Lastly, the E 450 4Matic’s 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine puts out 375hp and 500Nm. All three engines are linked to a 48V mild-hybrid system. They come with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets the automaker’s proprietary ‘Superscreen’. It consists of a 14.4-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen entertainment display for the front passenger. The infotainment system runs the latest MBUX OS. The front seats are electrically adjustable and can rise up to 40mm. The passengers can adjust the direction of the airflow from the AC using the digital vent control system in the infotainment system. The back rest can be reclined up to 36 degrees. It is integrated with soft headrests and electric sun blinds.
Other features of the luxury sedan include a 730W Burmester sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a multifunction leather/sports steering wheel, 64-zone ambient lighting, 6 fast-charging USB C ports, wireless charging, a four-zone climate control, a double cup holder, connected car tech, and more. Safety features include a pre-safe system, central airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Blind Spot Assist, pedestrian protection, a 360-degree camera, and more.

Final Thoughts
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is assembled locally in India. A facelifted model of the luxury sedan is supposedly in the works. In India, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class primarily rivals the BMW 5 Series.
