2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class Launched In India: Reflects Elegance And Sportiness

Luxury auto giant Mercedes finally launched the much-awaited 5th generation of its C-Class sedan in India on May 10th. The all-new 2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class. While bookings for the new-gen sedan commenced from May 2022 onwards, its India-spec model was unveiled last week. The 5th generation C-Class will be offered in three variants, namely C200, C220d and C300d. 

The 2022 Mercedes C-Class will be seen locking horns with the BMW 3 Series, Audi 4 and Jaguar XE, amongst others in its segment. Its exteriors clearly reflect elegance along with a hint of sportiness. The 5th generation C-Class comes with a 25mm longer wheelbase and a 10mm increase in width. The overall length of the sedan also gets increased by 65mm. Its LED headlamps come with integrated LED DRLs while at the rear, a set of new split-designed LED taillights have been introduced. The car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.

The 2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class is offered in six colours: Selenite Grey, Mojave Silver, High-Tech Silver, Opalite White, Cavansite Blue, and Obsidian Black. Speaking of its interiors, the cabin of the 5th generation sedan comes with a seemingly S-Class inspired theme. One of the highlights is its 12-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system that extends on to connect with the centre console. The C-Class also comes equipped with a fully-digital instrument cluster, the latest MBUX 7 connectivity, a flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and biometric authentication via fingerprint and voice. 

Another cool feature that the top-spec C-300d trim of the 5th generation C-Class features is Mercedes’ smart digital lights. These use up to 1.3 million pixels for lighting and can be configured according to the direction of the traffic. The car gets a Burmester sound system, ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, wireless charging and Alexa or Google Home integration, amongst a host of other features. On the front of safety, it comes equipped with ADAS features like active brake assist and active parking assist.

Coming to its mechanical specs, the all-new 2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class is powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engine. The petrol engine is offered with its C200 spec and delivers an output of 201bhp and 300Nm of torque. The diesel engine is offered with its other two trims and offers a power of 197bhp and 440Nm of torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission is offered as standard across the range. Additionally, a 48V mild-hybrid system is also offered with the sedan. 

The 2022 Mercedes C-Class price in India starts from Rs 55 lakhs for its C200 trim and goes up to Rs 61 lakhs for its top-spec C300d model.
