Prices for the entry-level variants of Jeep Compass and Meridian have been slashed by Rs 1.08 lakh and Rs 2.35 lakh respectively. The Jeep Compass lineup now begins at Rs 20.99 lakh while the Meridian starts at Rs 27.75 lakh. The higher variants of both cars receive a uniform price hike of Rs 35,000. This price hike has been chalked up to the updated engines that were ushered in following the new RDE norms.

Jeep Compass rivals the higher variants of MG Hector and Tata Harrier along with other premium SUVs like Citroen C5, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Hyundai Tucson. Jeep recently introduced the Club Edition for Compass at a similar price. The limited edition of the SUV offers a few cosmetic upgrades but remains unchanged under the hood.

Prices for the Meridian now start at Rs 27.75 lakh and go up to Rs 37.50 lakh. The SUV rivals the likes of Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner. The Club Edition for the Meridian is also priced the same as its base variant.

Jeep Compass gets two powertrain options while the Meridian is only offered with a diesel engine. This 2.0-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 170hp and 350Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
The 1.4-litre petrol engine on Jeep Compass generates a power output of 163hp and 250Nm torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT. The manual gearbox for the petrol variant of Compass was discontinued last year. Both SUVs come with 4WD variants as well.
