Over 1.10 lakh units of Mahindra XUV700 and XUV400 recalled

Mahindra has recalled over 1.10 lakh units of Mahindra XUV700 and XUV400. Out of the total units recalled, 1,08,306 belong to the XUV700 and 3,560 belong to the XUV400 EV. The XUV700 has already been recalled multiple times this year. Mahindra will be reaching out to the vehicle owners to schedule a checkup.

Mahindra XUV700 & XUV400: Recall initiated

Mahindra XUV700 units manufactured between June 8, 2021 – Jun 28, 2023 have been recalled due to a risk of the wiring harness getting abrasions. This window spans two years and predates the launch of the SUV, which happened in August 2021. It is safe to assume that all units of Mahindra XUV700 are being recalled.

Mahindra XUV700 features a 2.0L TGDi turbo petrol unit delivering 197hp of maximum power and 380Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 2.2L turbo diesel engine that delivers 185hp of power and 420Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual and 450Nm torque with 6-speed automatic transmission in the top-spec variant.

The XUV400 EV is being recalled due to the brake potentiometer’s ineffective spring return action. A fault with the spring return can lead to the discs not getting released by the brake pads. The XUV400 units being recalled were manufactured between February 16, 2023 – June 5, 2023.

The electric motor in the XUV400 can produce a maximum power of 150hp and 310Nm peak torque. The SUV can go from 0-100kmph in 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 150kmph. There are three driving modes on offer – Fun, Fast, and Fearless.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, affected customers will be contacted by Mahindra. The automaker will schedule a free check-up for all the affected customers. Faulty units of both vehicles will be fixed free of cost as well.
