The electric SUV entered the market with a price tag of Rs 15.99 lakh. Mahindra is currently offering a massive discount of Rs 3.50 lakh on the SUV. Here is a breakdown of the bookings that Mahindra has received so far.
The cancellation rate of orders remains at a meagre 8%. The automaker sold 1,14,742 SUVs between July and September 2023, doubling its sales from the same period in 2021. It currently occupies a market share of 19.9% in the SUV segment.
Back in January, Mahindra also added an entry-level variant to the Thar lineup. The Thar 2WD was launched at an introductory price of Rs 9.99 lakh. As the name suggests, the entry-level model of the lifestyle SUV gets a 2 wheel drive system. The 2WD Thar is also available in a 1.5-diesel engine option. This engine produces a maximum power output of 118.5hp and 300Nm of torque.
Mahindra is also planning to launch the 5-door version of the Thar soon. The lifestyle SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads across the year. Newer leaks suggest that the 5-door Thar will get design tweaks on the front grille and LED headlamps in order to differentiate it from its 3-door sibling. On August 15, the automaker announced its plans to launch an all-electric Thar in the coming years. However, the release of the Born Electric series is what’s next on the cards for Mahindra.

Despite the increasing demand for its SUVs, Mahindra cut down the waiting period for the Scorpio N and Classic last month. The top-spec variant of the Scorpio N now demands a waiting period of 9 months, while the entry-level variants are shipped out after 4-5 months of booking. The two variants of Scorpio Classic have a waiting period of 4 months.
