Mahindra Scorpio Classic’s waiting period extended to 7 months

Ever since its launch in 2022, Mahindra Scorpio Classic has been in high demand in India. Due to this high demand, the automaker has raised the waiting period for both variants of Scorpio Classic to 7 months. The Scorpio N, which was also launched last year, has been in high demand as well. Some variants of the SUV have a waiting period of up to one year.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic: Extending the legacy of India’s most successful SUV

Mahindra has been stepping up the production for Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N to cater to the high demand. The top-spec variants of both SUVs have the highest bookings, which is why Mahindra is prioritising their production over the others. Prices for Mahindra Scorpio Classic start at Rs 12.99 lakh and go up to Rs 16.81 lakh. Meanwhile, the Scorpio N range starts at Rs 13.05 lakh and goes up to Rs 24.52 lakh.

Scorpio Classic

Powering the Scorpio Classic is an updated all-aluminium lightweight GEN-2 mHawk engine that produces a maximum power of 130hp and 300Nm torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The GEN-2 mHawk engine is 55 kilos lighter and 14% more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

Scorpio N

Mahindra Scorpio N gets a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine option and a 2.2L diesel engine unit that also powers the Mahindra Thar and XUV700. The petrol unit delivers 170PS of power while the diesel unit churns out 155PS. The SUV comes with multiple driving modes and has a body-on-frame construction. It features intelligent 4Xplore terrain management technology, offering the 4 modes Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert, with the touch of a button.

Conclusion

Mahindra hiked the prices for Scorpio Classic by Rs 65,000. The Scorpio N also got its price increased by Rs 1 lakh. Mahindra Scorpio rivals the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos. Meanwhile, the Scorpio N rivals XUV700, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
