Mahindra Scorpio Classic prices hiked by up to Rs 29,000

Mahindra Auto has hiked the prices of the Scorpio Classic by up to Rs 29,000. Despite the introduction of the Scorpio N in 2022, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic remains in high demand. The new price hike affects 4 variants of the SUV – S (7 seater), S (9 seater), S11 (7 seater, front-facing), and S11 (7 seater, captain chairs). The price of the base variant has been increased by only Rs 2,000, so as not to drive up the starting price of the SUV by a huge factor.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is powered by the all-aluminium lightweight GEN-2 mHawk engine. It produces a maximum power of 130hp and 300Nm torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. It is 55 kilos lighter and 14% more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

Meanwhile, the Scorpio N comes in 2.0L turbocharged petrol and 2.2L diesel engine options. The petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 167hp while the diesel unit churns out 153hp. The SUV comes with multiple driving modes and has a body-on-frame construction. It features intelligent 4Xplore terrain management technology, offering the 4 modes: Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert, with the touch of a button.

In terms of features, the Scorpio Classic packs a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with phone mirroring, a faux leather steering wheel with mounted controls, 2nd row AC vents, electrically-adjustable OVRMs, and more. On the safety front, the SUV gets dual airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), seat belt reminder, panic brake indication, collapsible steering, anti-theft warning, auto door lock, and more.

Final Thoughts

The Scorpio Classic comes in 4 paint shades – Everest White, Stealth Black, Diamond White, and Galaxy Grey. Its prices start at Rs 13 lakh and go up to Rs 17 lakh. The SUV rivals the Tata SafariMG HectorJeep CompassHyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos in India.
