Kia Seltos and Carens to receive a price hike next month

Kia India will be hiking the prices for Kia Seltos and Carens in October. Both models will receive a 2% hike across different variants next month. The Seltos facelift SUV was launched back in July at a starting price of 10.89 lakh. Earlier this week, Kia added two ADAS variants to the SUV’s lineup to meet the rising demand.

Kia Seltos and Carens: Price hike explained

Prices for the Kia Seltos facelift currently start at Rs 10.89 lakh for the entry-level 1.5L HTE MT trim and go up to Rs 19.99 lakh for the X-Line variant. Once the price hike comes into effect, the Kia Seltos lineup will start at Rs 11.09 lakh and go up to Rs 20.33 lakh for the top-spec variant. Kia has not announced which variants of the Seltos will receive the price hike.

The Kia Seltos facelift comes in 1.5L petrol and 1.5L turbo-diesel engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. The petrol can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The diesel engine gets the option of a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Kia Carens lineup starts at Rs 10.45 lakh and goes up to Rs 18.90 lakh for the top-spec variant. The MPV has received several price hikes since its launch in February 2022. Kia Carens was launched at Rs 8.99 lakh in India back in 2022. With a 2% price hike, the Carens lineup will start at Rs 10.66 lakh and go up to Rs 19.27 lakh.

The new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine on Kia Carens produces a maximum power output of 158hp, which is 20hp more than the unit on the previous model. The updated diesel engine puts out 114hp of power, which is slightly higher than the previous version.

Conclusion

Since its launch, Kia has received over 50,000 bookings for the Seltos. The SUV rivals the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, Citroen C3 Aircross, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder. Meanwhile, the Carens MPV rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6, and Mahindra Marazzo.
