Skoda Kushaq and Slavia get 1.5-litre TSI petrol variants

After launching a new Onyx Edition for Skoda Kushaq, the automaker has added the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine to the Ambition variants of Kushaq and Slavia. This engine was previously reserved for the high-end Monte Carlo and Style variants. The Skoda Kushaq Ambition variant with the new engine costs Rs 14.99 lakh while its Slavia counterpart costs Rs 14.94 lakh.

Skoda Kushaq and Slavia: New engine specs

The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 150hp and 250Nm peak torque. This is 34hp and 72Nm higher than the 1.0-litre engine. It also comes with the cylinder deactivation feature which shuts off the two cylinders of the engine in order to save fuel. Transmission options for the Ambition trims of Skoda Kushaq and Slavia include a six-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

The automatic transmission variant of the Skoda Kushaq Ambition costs Rs 16.79 lakh, while the Slavia automatic costs Rs 16.24 lakh. As a part of its collaboration with Volkswagen, this 1.5 TSI petrol engine can also be found on the Taigun and Virtus. There are no other changes to the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia lineup. The 1.5-litre TSI variants remain the same cosmetically and there are no feature upgrades on these models either.

In other news, Skoda launched a new Onyx Edition for the Kushaq recently. The Onyx Edition gets new chrome surrounds on the front grille and plastic covers for its 16-inch steel wheels. It also gets a faux diffuser on the bumper and the exclusive ‘Onyx’ badging on the B pillar. The biggest change is the grey graphic spanning across the doors on the side.
