Hyundai i20 facelift launched at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh

The new Hyundai i20 facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh. The top-spec Asta (O) IVT variant fetches Rs 11.01 lakh. The facelifted model gets important cosmetic upgrades inside and out. It also gets some much-needed feature updates, bringing it up to the segment standard.

The front and rear bumpers on the i20 facelift get a design tweak. There are two arrow-shaped air inlets on either side of the front bumper. The position of the reflectors has been changed at the back and a faux skid plate has been added to the vehicle. The internal elements of the grille have also been redesigned. While there are not many changes to the design of headlamps, the top-spec variants of the Hyundai i20 facelift now get fully LED units at the front and the rear. The Hyundai logo has also been moved from the grille to the bonnet. Along the sides, the i20 gets a new design for the 16-inch alloys.

Inside, the Hyundai i20 facelift gets a dual-tone theme for the dashboard. A physical knob for volume control has been added to the bottom of the infotainment system. While the hatchback retains the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, it now comes with over 60 connected car features, 127 embedded VR commands, and 52 Hinglish voice commands. The ambient lighting in the vehicle has also been updated. The i20 also gets updated door padding and puddle lamps. Safety features include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), 3-Point seat belt and seatbelt reminder for all seats.

Under the hood, the Hyundai i20 facelift retains the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine while ditching the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The 1.2-litre engine can produce a maximum power output of 83hp (MT), 88hp (IVT), and 115Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or an IVT gearbox.

Conclusion

The Hyundai i20 facelift is available in a new Amazon Grey colour option. The automaker will release an N Line Edition for the hatchback later this year. This N Line Edition will feature the turbo petrol engine that has been discontinued on the i20 facelift. In India the Hyundai i20 facelift rivals Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza.
