Hyundai Creta facelift scores a 5-star safety rating in ASEAN NCAP crash tests

Hyundai Creta has scored the highest possible 5-star rating in the latest round of ASEAN NCAP crash tests. Creta was tested along with the Stargazer MPV, making them the first two Hyundai cars to be tested under the new ASEAN NCAP guidelines. The facelifted Hyundai Creta will be launched in the Indian market next year.

Hyundai Creta facelift ASEAN NCAP crash test results

In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the Hyundai Creta scored 86%, receiving 27.78 points out of a possible 32. In the Child Occupant Test, the SIV scored 77%, receiving 39.67 points out of a possible 51. In the Safety Assist test, Hyundai Creta secured 70%, scoring 14.79 points out of a possible 21. In the Motorcyclist Safety test, Creta obtained just 57%, securing 9.14 points out of a possible 16. Overall, Hyundai Creta scored 75.78 points and got awarded a 5-star rating by the ASEAN NCAP.

The variant that underwent the crash tests was equipped with two airbags, although Hyundai also offers 6 airbags on higher variants of Creta. Other safety features include ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), lane assist, blind spot reduction, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and more.

Stargazer MPV

The Hyundai Stargazer successfully achieved an overall score of 66.48 points. The scoring was accumulated from 31.21 points for the AOP assessment category, 14.48 points from COP, 12.04 points from SA and 8.75 points from the MS category. The total score made the MPV eligible to receive a 4-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.

The India-spec Creta underwent the Global NCAP tests earlier this year and received a three-star rating. It scored 8 points out of a possible 17 on the Adult Occupant Protection Test and 28.29 points out of a possible 49 on the Child Occupant Protection test.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, the Hyundai Creta facelift was tested under the new ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 guidelines. Creta is also the first Hyundai SUV to be tested by the ASEAN NCAP. Hyundai is planning on launching the Creta facelift sometime next year in India. Currently, Hyundai Creta rivals Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
